Wallowa Lake Fishing

Kokanee - Open All Year
Trout - Open All Year

Wallowa lake has a healthy population of Kokanee.  Though overall there have been fewer small fish caught (<8 inches) with most fish in the 12-14 inch range.  At least this has been the case during the winter of 2011.   If these fish survive well it should be another good summer for Kokanee.   HOW ABOUT RENTING A VACATION RENTAL WITH LAKE FRONTAGE AND ITS OWN PRIVATE DOCK! The Kokanee in Wallowa Lake are caught by trolling and jigging.  We even know a place that you can catch them from the lake shore.    During the winter when the lake freezes they are caught them by ice fishing!  The following are a few pictures of Kokanne caught during the winter.  At check-in as us how to catch them!

Wallowa lake Trout!

The lake has a good population of rainbow trout.  Over 40,000 are stocked in the lake in the spring and the summer allowing most everyone to catch fish.  During the winter and early spring the largest fish are caught.  Recently a 9.1 lb fish was caught.

<WE NEED SOME TROUT PICTURES!>

The best places to catch trout include around the marina and the inlet to the lake.
